If you've never bought a beef share before, the concept can feel a little overwhelming at first. How much meat is that really? Where do you put it all? Is it actually worth it?

We get these questions a lot and the answer to that last one is almost always yes. Here's everything you need to know before you order.

What Is a Beef Share?

A beef share is exactly what it sounds like. You're buying a share of one animal, either a quarter, a half, or the whole thing, directly from the ranch that raised it. Instead of buying individual cuts at a grocery store or butcher, you get everything at once at one flat rate per pound.

At Grassy Flat Ranch, that means you pay the same price per pound for a ribeye steak as you do for ground beef. No markup on the premium cuts. No mystery about where any of it came from.

What's Included?

Every Grassy Flat Ranch beef share includes cuts from the whole animal. Here's what you'll get:

• Top Sirloin Steaks

• Tenderloin Filets

• Ribeye Steaks

•  T-Bone or New York Steaks

• Flat Iron Steak

• Roasts

• Tri-Tip

• Brisket

• Ground Beef

All steaks are cut 1" thick and packaged two per package. Roasts run 3-5 pounds each. Ground beef is packaged one pound per package. About half your share weight will be in ground beef and the other half in steaks and roasts. Everything is dry-aged 14 days, vacuum sealed, and frozen solid by our local USDA-inspected butcher.

 

Which Size Is Right for Me?

Quarter Share | $1,080 | 90 lbs of beef

This is the best starting point if you've never bought a beef share before or if you have a smaller family. It fits in a 5- to 7-cubic-foot freezer, which most people already have. At 90 pounds you're looking at several months worth of beef depending on how often your family eats it. ORDER A QUARTER SHARE

Half Share | $2,160 | 180 lbs of beef

Our most popular option. A good fit for families of four or more or anyone who eats beef regularly and wants to be fully stocked. Requires a chest freezer or large upright freezer. ORDER A HALF SHARE.

Whole Beef | $4,320 | 360 lbs of beef

Everything from one animal. This is the best value per pound and the right choice for large families, people who want to split a share with someone else, or anyone who wants to be completely set for the year. We recommend a minimum of 16 cubic feet of freezer space, and 17 to 21 cubic feet if you want to store anything else alongside it. ORDER A WHOLE BEEF.

Why Grass-Finished Matters

Not all beef shares are created equal. Ours comes from cattle raised on open pasture in Southern Utah with no added hormones and no antibiotics. They're grass-finished, meaning they eat nothing but grass their entire lives. No grain finishing, no feedlot, no shortcuts.

The result is beef with a richer, cleaner flavor than anything you'll find at the grocery store. And because every share comes from one animal, you can trace every package straight back to this ranch. That kind of transparency isn't something most beef producers can offer.

What About Freezer Space?

This is the question we get most often and we want to give you an honest answer.

• For a quarter share you need at least 5 cubic feet of dedicated freezer space. If you have other things you want to store alongside it, plan for 6 to 7 cubic feet.

• For a half share plan for 10 to 12 cubic feet.

• For a whole beef you need a minimum of 16 cubic feet. If you want storage room for anything else, 17 to 21 cubic feet is ideal.

• If you don't have a chest freezer and you're thinking about a half or whole share, this is a good excuse to get one. They pay for themselves quickly when you're buying beef at bulk prices.

How Does Pickup Work?

Once your order is processed, we'll let you know your pickup details. We meet you at our pickup location in St. George, Utah and hand-deliver your order directly to your car. Everything is frozen solid and ready to go straight into your freezer when you get home.

All orders are local pickup only. We do not ship meat at this time.
